Abstract

The Manggarai indigenous people have a strategic role in building geopolitical conduciveness and regional and national development. Because of this strategic role, many political actors try to gain support and legitimacy to carry out research and political penetration. The purpose of penetration and penetration is to be elected (again) as national and local public officials. However, some politicians try to gain support and legitimacy from the Manggarai indigenous people by playing rotten politics in the form of money politics, black campaigns, identity politics, SARA issues, and politics of reciprocation. By playing these rotten politics, political dignity and meaning as a means of creating social welfare are degraded. Observing this phenomenon, the author makes social critical research that aims to examine political ideals and their application in society. Furthermore, the authors analyze the facts and symptoms of the exploitation of indigenous peoples as a political command for the pragmatic interests of power. The benefit of this paper is that the families of indigenous peoples, political actors, and other Manggarai communities emancipate their critical awareness so that they can apply ethical politics, to create social welfare for the Manggarai community in general, and the Manggarai indigenous people in particular.
