Abstract

INDONESIA: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan spasial matematis siswa ditinjau dari perbedaan gender pada pelajaran matematika pokok bahasan bangun ruang sisi datar kelas VIII. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 4 orang siswa terdiri dari 2 laki-laki dan 2 perempuan yang memiliki kemampuan spasial matematis tinggi. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari tes kemampuan spasial matematis dan wawancara. Teknis analisis data meliputi reduksi data, paparan data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Adapun validasi data menggunakan triangulasi teknik. Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa kemampuan spasial visualization subjek laki-laki dan subjek perempuan memiliki kemampuan yang sama ditunjukkan dari kemampuan dalam menentukan komposisi suatu objek yang telah dimanipulasi, baik posisi maupun bentuknya. Sedangkan dalam menyelesaikan masalah yang terkait dengan spatial orientation dan spatial relation subjek laki-laki lebih banyak menggunakan kemampuan spasialnya dibandingkan subjek perempuan. INGGRIS: The purpose of this study is to describe the mathematical spatial abilities of students reviewed from gender differences in the basic math lessons of building a flat side room class VIII. The study subjects of 4 students consisted of 2 men and 2 women who had the highest mathematical spatial abilities. Research instruments consist of tests of mathematical spatial ability and interviews. Technical data analysis includes reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Data validation uses triangulation techniques. The results obtained that the spatial visualization ability of male subjects and female subjects have the same ability is shown from the ability to determine the composition of an object that has been manipulated both position and shape. While in solving problems related to spatial orientation and spatial relations male subjects use more spatial abilities than female subjects.
